What would it look like if we took the most divisive topic in America and changed the narrative beyond the pro-choice vs pro-life conversation. Can abortion be seen through a lens other than the political space it currently occupies? And is it possible to find common ground?
Chautauqua Institution Lecture
In August 2025, I was invited to deliver a lecture about religion and reproductive rights as part of Chautauqua Institution’s Interfaith Lecture Series. I spoke about my work with Religious Community for Reproductive Choice, my background coming from a conservative Evangelical community, how becoming a mother forced me to look at reproductive rights through a more progressive lens, and how the documentaries and podcasts I create have become my voice in the fight for reproductive freedom. Hosting a panel with ‘Happening’ Director Audrey Diwan, Trust Women clinics co-executive director Rebecca Tong, and UCSF “Abortion Onscreen” researcher Steph Herold. Based on Annie Ernaux’s semi-autobiographical novel, Happening follows Annie, a bright young student who faces an unwanted pregnancy while abortion was still illegal in 1960s France. This discussion took place the day after a leaked draft memo from the Supreme Court outlined how they are planning to overturn Roe v Wade in a decision for the Dobbs v Jackson case.
